UFW Foundation Celebrates May Day by ‘Honoring the Hands That Feed Us’
Delano, Calif. — To commemorate the dedication and sacrifices made by farm workers throughout the country, the UFW Foundation, along with labor unions, civil rights organizations and grassroots community groups, organized marches, resource fairs and celebrations in Fresno and Delano, California, and Atlanta, Georgia, to demand dignity and respect for farm workers.
Erica Lomeli Corcoran, the UFW Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, said:
“This May Day, we honor the dedication and sacrifice of farm workers. They are vital to our society and country, and they deserve the recognition that comes with it. That’s why the UFW Foundation is working to raise awareness about the challenges farm workers face, advocating for better wages, overtime, paid sick leave, health care, and other essential rights. Their hands feed the nation, and their labor is essential, skilled, and dignified.
Today, the UFW Foundation is joining labor unions, civil rights organizations, and grassroots community groups to demand that farm workers be treated with dignity and respect. Together, we are honoring the hands that feed us because farm workers make America great.”
