Like many people all across the country, Briana Benitez worked hard to gain her citizenship. With the help of the UFW Foundation, she was able to gain that citizenship in 2022.
“Becoming a U.S. citizen has always been one of my most important goals because this is the country where I have built my life and my future,” Briana said. “I wanted the opportunity to participate fully in my community, vote, and provide greater security and stability for myself and my family.”
Briana’s journey required patience, effort and determination. She faced many challenges and had to learn the process step by step. She studied for the civics and English exams while at the same time working and fulfilling her responsibilities to her family.
Briana is grateful for the help and support from the UFW Foundation throughout the citizenship process. Having attended a UFW Foundation workshop in Mecca, CA, the UFW Foundation answered her questions, helped her complete her application, prepared her for the interview and civics test, and assisted with the cost of the process. Thanks to the UFW Foundation’s support, her experience was much easier and gave her the confidence to reach this important milestone.
“As a U.S. citizen, I look forward to voting, becoming more involved in my community, and creating more opportunities for my family,” Briana said. “Citizenship gives me peace of mind and allows me to contribute fully to the country I now call home. I also hope to help and motivate others who are beginning their own journey toward citizenship.”
