Directing Attorney, Immigration Legal Services, California
As a directing attorney, ma. sofia supports the UFWF-Immigration Program’s provision of comprehensive affirmative and removal defense services across CA’s Central Valley and Central Coast. Previously, she was with Immigrant Defender’s Law Center as a managing attorney, focused on representing detained individuals in removal proceedings, particularly vulnerable minors and adults with diminished capacity. As a legal fellow with the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties, she launched an LOP/pro-se program for a rural detention center and investigated conditions and due process issues.
ma. sofia is dedicated to championing justice for marginalized communities. She is proud of her campesino immigrant roots and to be from the Central Valley.
