UFW Foundation History
Founded in 2006 as a
501c3 with headquarters in Los Angeles, the UFWF
opened service centers two years later in Salinas
and Bakersfield in order to reach and better
serve low-income farm workers and other immigrants living in more remote,
underserved communities in central and northern California. In the past year, the UFWF's
service centers have served over 1000 immigrants and their families. The
centers fill a gap in the service network by providing critically-needed
assistance to those who live in areas where resources are few or non-existent. Of particular importance is the legal
assistance the UFWF offers through its staff who are accredited by the federal
Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) to provide immigration advice.
